Ruthin Musical Theatre is hosting a series of inexpensive workshops primarily aimed at adult beginners and anyone looking to gain more experience in Musical Theatre and/or acting. They will be run by two fabulous local experienced professionals: Rona Campbell will be running the singing workshop and Peter Read will running the acting one. The workshop will be one session of 6 weeks long, starting on Monday 4th September. Spaces are limited so make sure you book early. The workshops will be held at Ruthin School from 7:30 - 22:00 and free refreshments will be available.
Workshops cost just £35 and this includes 1 years Membership of Ruthin Musical Theatre .
The workshops will culminate with a small show on the 21st October for friends and family of the workshop participants.
All adults and older teens welcome (under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult who MUST also take part in the workshops) Minimum age is 14, subject to availability we may consider younger people, but please contact us first before booking.

Rona Campbell has had over 20 years’ experience in teaching and helping people to improve their singing technique. She trained at Cardiff College of Music and Drama, where she also performed extensively as a classical singer in concert halls and cathedrals in South Wales. She has guested on many BBC programs including Woman’s Hour, Radio One and BBC Radio Scotland and performed at the Edinburgh Festival. She has worked in association with Ysbyty Maelor and Liverpool Royal Teaching Hospital, retraining damaged voices after surgery.
She specialises in:
- confidence building for performing
- teaching techniques to increase vocal range
- able to adapt to a wide variety of singer’s needs
- experienced in training both classical and modern singers
- training singers up to grade 8 and degree level
- friendly warm and supportive teaching

Peter Read is an award-winning playwright and actor, he has had over twenty of his plays staged professionally. He has acted in Britain and America and won the NODA award for his play Shearer or Me. He gained five star reviews for his performance as Dylan Thomas in two successive years at the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2008 he won the John Tripp Award for the best performance poet in Wales. He has run courses for young people and adults and has also directed nine plays.
Workshops will include:
- Acting without words
- Show emotions and moods on stage
- Create a character with a prop
- Make your character come alive through use of voice, posture
- Act out of character
- Play rich, poor, mad, sane
